It all started In 1974, when Stanley Seevers was approached by his brother-in-law and several other area farmers, encouraging him to start a drainage business. Seevers Farm Drainage Service began on April 15, 1975 using a Speicher 600 trencher, 2 employees, and a borrowed backhoe. Installing clay tile, they used targets for grade control. One year later he upgraded to a new Speicher 7060 trencher with automatic laser grade control and a new John Deere 310A backhoe. In the late 1970's clay tile was phased out with the introduction of corrugated plastic tubing.
In 1980, his son Jon joined the company and in 1985 the company was incorporated and the name changed to Seevers Farm Drainage, Inc.
In 1993, Seevers Farm Drainage, Inc became the 1st contractor in the nation to utilize computer aided design (CAD) to become more efficient and precise in their tile installation.
In 2000, Jon and his wife Veronica purchased the business and are the current operators.
In 2009, SFDI incorporated the most current RTK GPS technology for topographical data collection and tile installation.
The business continues to grow and is continually updating machinery. Our employees currently have a over 150 years of combined work experience.
